FUEL TANK WAGON DRIVER
Rotating Schedule: 4on / 4off. Night Shift: 5pm start. 40-50 hours per week.
Required licenses or certifications: CDL B LICENSE, HAZMAT, TANKER
Position Overview:
Drive a straight truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 GVW to transport and deliver petroleum-based products. There will be exposure to dust, fumes, high and low temperatures, slippery surfaces, low-lighted work areas and high noise levels. Fuel tank driver may be required to drive in hazardous conditions, including weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations. Compliance with all DOT, Company and Safety Policies, procedures and practices are required at all times.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
- Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission transport vehicles in various road conditions throughout Michigan and surrounding states.
- Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
- Load fuels as instructed at designed truck rack using fuel arms and hoses that require lifting requirements of 50 pounds without assistance.
- Responsible for general maintenance of truck, including but not limited to: checking oil and fuel levels
- Complete all “pre-trip” requirements before each truck run and “post-trip” requirement at the end of each shift. This requires ability to push 146 pounds and pull 146 pounds.
- Ability to operate Smart Logix computer system or similar.
- Ability to climb ladder with a minimum of 3 rungs regularly throughout shift.
- Ability to read and complete written documentation with respect to Bill of Lading, Inventory, Pre and Post trips inspections, Orders and Fuel ticket copies. Ensure fuel tickets match orders.
- Follows company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.
- Other duties as assigned by management and operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Skills and Qualifications of Fuel Tank Driver:
- Be able to lift 50 lbs of necessary equipment and physically be able to load and unload trucks
- Experience in driving in all types of weather conditions
- Pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, 7-year background check and Clearinghouse query
- Acceptable driver’s license and must be able to pass and road test given by Corrigan
